CANDY INSPIRED CHANDELIER WHICH REMINDS OF CHILDHOOD
Lasvit : The Candy Collection blends Brazilian inspiration with daring color schemes and patterns, as well as Czech glassmaking traditions and craft. “For the Candy collection we wanted to explore the colorful universe of our Sushi series and to express it through a glass collection,” says Fernando Campana. “Our fascination with this material dates to our childhood. We were completely seduced by the glass objects that we used to hold against the light to investigate their shadows, colors, transparency, dimensions and to imagine worlds insidethem,” he adds.
“We found the inspiration for this collection in the colorful candies that you find in popular markets,” explains Humberto Campana. “The brightness of the glass combined with the collection’s palette of colors as well as the visual aspect of the colorful lines make you imagine the piece as a candy, as a lollipop. As for the shape of the chandeliers, it comes from our Sushi IV chair”, he adds.
This glass sculpture has been acquired by the Corning Museum of Glass. The Sphere Chandelier from the Candy Collection by Brazilian designers Campana Brothers for LASVIT was chosen to accompany the best of contemporary glass art and design in this state-of-the-art exhibition space. The chandelier is on display as a part of the permanent collection in the Contemporary Art & Design Wing of the museum.
