INSIDE 2015 is now just round the corner and we can’t wait to see world’s renowned architects and interior designers gathering to witness the earth’s most coveted interior design awards. Here are some of the shortlisted designs in hotel category for the trophy.
Brothers Johnathan and Nectar Efkarpidis are the founders of Hotel Hotel, located in NewActon, a diverse new precinct in Canberra. Nishi Commercial is a major new mixed development building housing government departments, private offices, a cinema and cafes.
In this 68-room, 28-apartment hotel, no two rooms are alike. 50 makers, artists and creative studios developed the design Hotel Hotel (Well quite an interesting name of the hotel).
And while such a huge and luxurious boutique project was conceived, Australia’s well known Architecture & Interior Design Studio, March Studio was engaged to create spaces which encouraged residents, guests and visitors to linger in what can often be a transient space. March Studio designed the stair and lobby for Canberra’s Hotel Hotel in a very different, rare and gorgeously spell binding affair.
The grand lobby & stairway is composed of reclaimed timber, blurring boundaries while directing views and movement. The stair links the hotel and the apartments. The timber used here is heavy and stacked across the ceiling and walls. The trick was to bring in the external light & views and let the same flow from within. So stunning is the use of timber, steel, marbles and glass that it creates a view worth a watch. click here to read full article….
