Dutch Design Week 2015 in its sprits to showcase works of young design and architecture professionals has Bas Vellekoop (1985) a young talented designer exhibit his modern designs at Design Perron, Fuutlaan, Eindhoven. With his designs, Vellekoop strives for sustainable beauty and usability. His designs are timeless because of their directness, but they keep surprising us because of the uncompromising eye for detail. The construction is usually exposed, forming a defining element of the aesthetics and the rest of the design.

For the realisation of his designs, Vellekoop looks for local, highly specialized craftsmen to whom the material doesn’t hold any secrets. Vellekoop challenges the craftsmen by daring them to explore the boundaries of their skills and of the material. That is why the production of his designs – the people and the machines – is always an inherent part of the designs themselves.

Vellekoop’s three unique creations for this year’s Dutch Design Week 2015 are FOLD, TRIPOD & NOD. We bring insights into the exceptional and truly matchless creations:

FOLD

This ultra modern sleek looking table is made of powder coated laser-cut, folded steel. The table has a glass table top with satin finish. The frame of this table consists of 8 separate parts. By folding the steel different parts of the table come together in one elegant joint. The glass table top with its special finish shows the joint but hides cleverly what is underneath. This inimitable piece is available in different sizes and versions. The variation to the top can be made by opting for wood, marble, plywood and other customisable solid surfaces.

TRIPOD

Vellekoop drew the design inspiration for this contemporary Coat rack from the iconic camera tripod. This piece is made of laser-cut and folded steel. The design has been brought back to its essence: just the three legs that, through their connection give the design its stability. The folded elements that give stability to the coat rack also serve as clothing hooks. This creation offers you the flexibility in different colours. click here to read full article….
