The London Design Festival is an annual event, held to celebrate and promote London as the design capital of the world and as the gateway to the international creative community.
The London Design Festival this year will be from 19th to 27th September.
First presented in 2003, the London Design Festival is now considered as one of the world’s most important annual design events. The Festival programme is made up of over 400 events and exhibitions staged by hundreds of Partner organizations across the design spectrum and from around the world.
Major feature of the London Design Festival each year is the ambitious programme of installations that the festival calls as Landmark Projects. First introduced in 2007, London Design Festival commissions the world’s best designers and architects, as well as pioneers new talents, to creating something extraordinary in response to a variety of stimuli such as a particular material, a theme or a location. Over the years, these installations have appeared in some of London’s most prominent and best-loved spaces, including the V&A, Southbank Centre, Tate Modern and Trafalgar Square.
This time in 2015, A Bullet from a Shooting Star would be the Landmark Project which was commissioned by the Festival in collaboration with Knight Dragon, the Hong Kong-based property developer currently developing a new district for London at Greenwich Peninsula. A second sculpture by Alex Chinneck, ‘Straight Jacket Star Jumps’ will be on show at NOW Gallery throughout the Festival and limited edition prints of both art-works are being released to coincide.
